DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge, January 2015

Thanks so much for stopping in. It's hard to believe it is already time for me to post another card for DCWV!
I had lots of fun creating this card! I played around with the new inlaid die cuts technique for my glitter-tree. I used the tree that I first die cut from the foil tag as embellishment. I cut the tree in half and tucked it under the strip of diamonds. Pretty, no? Then, I inlaid the light teal glitter-tree in the tag. To make the tree show up better, I tucked a scrap of teal foil behind the openwork  of the tree. Using a third color might have made that unnecessary. But, I like it like this.
There is still plenty of time if you want to play along with us. Here's this month's sketch and the link to find all the details: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2015/01/1st-stack-holic-challege-for-2015.html

Here's what I used for my card:

DCWV - Foiled Cardstock Stack 6x6
Noel Stack (Yes, it's Christmas paper. My rebellious side came
out to play. I just love her!)
Adhesive Jeweled Sheet - the sheet is very easy to trim
Spellbinders - Whimsical Tree die
Our Daily Bread Designs - Friendship stamps
Horizon Fabrics -  sheer elegance ribbon

May God be glorified in the work of my hands,
Pamela

Magazine Monday Challenge - Week 82

So glad you stopped in! Today, for the first time I am playing along in the Magazine Monday Challenge (Week 82) over at Papercrafter's Corner.
I was so inspired by the colors in this magazine cover. This card is a great way to use scraps. I punched these circles out of leftovers from DCWV's Solstice Stack. The sentiment is from TPC Studio.
There are a few days left to play along with us. Here's a link with all the details for submitting your card. Check out this weeks inspiration photo below.

DCWV December Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

Where does the time go!?! Already time for another monthly challenge at DCWV!
I do thank you for stopping in. I know how busy we all get just a few days out from Christmas. I'm planning to send this Christmas thank-you card to Mom. She loves red, so I know this card will be a hit with her!
I used the CANDY CANE LANE STACK from DCWV to make my card for this month's Stack-a-holic Challenge.
     Other products I used are:
          Fiskars:  All Year Cheer (sentiment)
Our Daily Bread Designs: Sparkling Snowflakes stamps
Our Daily Bread Designs: Snowflake dies
          McGill:  tag punch
          Ranger:  white pigment
          StampinUp:  white embossing powder
          Recollections:  white pearls
There is still time to join in the fun. Here's a copy of the sketch DCWV gave us to work with as well as the link to get all the details.  http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/12/december-stack-holic-challenge.html

DCWV November Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

Update: So excited to find out my card won the challenge at DCWV!
Time for another fun Stack-a-holic challenge at DCWV.
I used The Handy-Dandy Stack from DCWV to make my Christmas card. I know that lime-greenish and pinkish are not the go-to colors for Christmas, but I have a rebellious side when it comes to 'rules' about colors and design. So, pink and lime green it is!
In the stack, there are several sheets of random letters all over the page - different fonts, sizes, colors. I cut some of them out to make my Merry Christmas sentiment. There are enough letter styles that you could use the sheet for your favorite style.
I added a few snowflake stickers to finish it off. The big snowflake is a shaker-sticker.

There is still plenty of time left if you want to join in on the fun. Here's a copy of the sketch we had to work with and the address for all the details. http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/11/november-stack-holic-challenge-is-here.html
Thanks so much for stopping in today. As we come to the time of year to think more about the things we are thankful for, I add you, my followers and visitors, to my list. Have a wonderful day,
Pamela

Holiday Challenge ODBDSLC217

UPDATE: Just found out that my black and silver Christmas card won the challenge! So excited! Thanks so much to Our Daily Bread Designs for picking my card!

I made this card for Our Daily Bread Designs' Holiday Challenge. I've always enjoyed using non-traditional colors for my Christmas cards. For this one, I used black and silver to get a more elegant look. I think black and white would also look good. Or, what about black and green!?! I guess I will be spending more time in my studio today.
The patterned paper (DVWV Silver Script) already had the silver script on it. I used ODBD's Sparkling Snowflakes stamps (ECS08) to stamp all the snowflakes in silver and added a "diamond" to the center of each. I used ODBD snowflake dies to die-cut the big snowflake which I adhered with foam tape.
For the sentiment, I used ODBD's Snowflake Sentiment stamps (ECS06). I stamped "Christmas Blessings" with black ink onto silver, satin ribbon. The whole stamp reads Snowy Christmas Greetings. But, since I only have this size of silver ribbon, I used just part of the stamp. This two words that I did use fit perfectly on my ribbon. I've been experimenting with stamping onto things other than paper. I'm pleased with how the stamp looks on this ribbon.
There is still time if you want to play along with us. You can find all the details on Our Daily Bread Designs blog at: http://www.ourdailybreaddesignsblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Shining%20the%20Light%20Challenge
Hope you will try some non-traditional colors on your cards this year. Hope you have a wonderful day!

DCWV October Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

Update:  So exited to find out my card made it to the winner's list at DCWV!
Thanks so much for popping in. I really love your visits. Today, I have a card for the DCWV Stack-a-holic Challenge which I am getting in at the very last moment. Not like me, but I've been super busy this month.
I used DCWV's Heirloom Stack to make my card for this month's challenge. I bought this stack just for the sheet of paper you see under my card. I have still not been able to cut it! You now how that goes - right!?! It can't just be me.
I love using unexpected colors for my Christmas cards. Teal and taupe/tan/dark ivory. Let's go with taupe because it's fun to say teal and taupe!
If you have an idea for this challenge, you might still have time to get it in. The deadline is today! Here's a copy of the sketch we had to work with and the address for all the details.
Thanks again for stopping in. I wish you a fun and meaningful holiday season. http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/10/october-stack-holic-challenge.html

I also used La Petites stickers (the Paper Studio) and sentiment stamps from Hero Arts #CL469.

DCWV August Stack-a-holic Challenge

UPDATE: Thanks to DCWV for featuring my card on their blog!

So nice of you to stop by my blog today. Love your visits and comments. I had lots of fun making this card for the monthly challenge over at DCWV.
I used DCWV's Chickadee Mesange Pajaro Stack to make my card. Love the colors and designs in the stack. To make my pennants pop, I shadowed each one with a different color to create a 3D-look.
I usually make all my own embellishments, but I had these great stickers I won from Pink Paislee's Hey Kid collection. How could I not use them here? The sentiment is also a sticker from the Paper Studio.
There is still plenty of time if you want to join in all the fun. Below is a copy of the challenge sketch we had to work with, and here's the link to the rules at DCWV: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/08/august-stack-holic-challenge.html

Sketch Challenge ODBDSLC211

Thanks so much for popping in. Today I have a card for the sketch challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.
From Our Daily Bread Designs, I used the Fancy Foliage die and the No Words collection to stamp the sentiment.
The cardstock is from  DCWV's Chickadee Mesange Pajaro Stack.
I think putting a shadowed-square behind each of the border squares really makes them pop. Adds a 3D look without the bulk of extra layers and foam tape.
There is still plenty of time if you want to play along with us. You have until Sunday, Aug 17th at 8 p.m. EST to get your card in. Here's the sketch ODBD gave us to work with along with the link to all the details.

DCWV July Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

UPDATE: So excited to learn my card was among the winners for its challenge. Thanks, DCWV! Love playing along in your challenges.

Thanks so much for stopping in. Today, I have a card for the July Stack-a-holic Challenge over at DCWV.
I used DCWV's The Home Spun Cardstock Stack to make my card. I had lots of fun making this card! I got to use several embossing folders and die cuts too. I used the darker teal/turquoise and cream cardstock from the stack. This color combo is my fave and I've saved every little scrap of these sheets. And, see? A good thing I did - look at the little flowers I had to make.
There is still plenty of time to join in the fun with us. Here's the address for all the details and a copy of the sketch we had to work with.

Summer Lovin' Challenge CFC133

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I so enjoy your visits and comments.
Today, I have a card for CAS-ual Fridays' challenge. The point of this challenge is to create a clean and simple card using hearts and summery colors. Except for the stem, I made all parts of my flower with hearts.
Using the medium and large That's Amore heart punches from Fiskars, I punched four large hearts from the beautiful, dark coral, water-colored cardstock in The Solstice Stack from DCWV. I also punched one large green heart and a medium green heart. To make the flower, I overlapped one heart onto another using all four hearts. I used the small green heart at the bottom of the petals. I cut and adhered a stem to the blossom. I cut the large green heart in half and added them as leaves. I used foam tape to adhere the blossom to my card. The sentiment is a vellum quote(ColorBok) which I ran through my Xyron sticker maker.
There is still plenty of time if you want to play along with us. Check out the details here: http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/2014/06/cfc133.html The deadline is noon on July 18th. So, jump in and start creating.
I pray that you are having a wonderful, blessed day.

DCWV June Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

UPDATE: Just found out that my card was among the winners at DCWV! Thanks so much to DCWV for another great challenge. You can see the other winners here:   http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/07/dear-crafty-friendsjune-stack-holic.html

Hello, my sweet friends! So nice of you to pop in. Today, I have a card for the June Stack-a-holic challenge at DCWV.
I used DCWV's The Coral Couture Stack to create my card. DCWV provided a great sketch(below) to work with this month. I did not have the die to make my rings, so I made my own. Using Fiskars 1.5" circle punch and Spellbinders 1" circle die, I created 12 rings. I ran them through my Xyron sticker maker and adhered them to the front of 12 more 1.5" circles. I used foam tape to attach them to my card. I stamped the sentiment (ODBD Friendship collection), and then added pearls and other embellishments.
     Here's a close-up of the circles.
There is still plenty of time to join in the fun. Check out the details here:

DCWV May Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

Thanks so much for stopping by. Makes my heart happy to know you are popping in from time to time. Today, I have a card for the Stack-a-holic challenge at DCWV.
I created this card using The Home Spun Stack - one of my favorite stacks! I'm going to have to get another one soon as this one is getting all used up. That calls for a shopping trip, don't you think? I can't run out of cardstock!
I love this stack because it already has score lines. I really like how it looks when I emboss over the top of it. Makes me look so talented, no!?! I used two different embossing folders. The smallest dark pink panel has smaller details that fit it better than the larger one. I used foam tape to adhere the larger panel to the card.
The sketch (below) had buttons on it. Most of my buttons are darker colors and I wanted something light and summery, so I made my own buttons using this same stack. When I got the circles made, I put them upside down on a mouse pad and used the back end of a paint brush to lightly emboss (?) them to give them the look of real buttons. Then, I punched two holes in each and threaded them with ribbon. I adhered them to my small panel with foam tape.
There is still plenty of time if you want to join in all the fun. Here's a copy of the sketch to work with and the address to get all the details: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/05/may-stackaholic-challenge.html

DCWV April Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

UPDATE: Just found out my card made the TOP-10! This really is my favorite challenge each month. I highly recommend joining in on all the fun. You can see the other TOP-10 here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/04/aprils-stackaholic-challenge-top-10s.html
Thanks so much for stopping in. Hope you are having a fun day.
Today, I have a card for the April Stack-a-holic challenge over at DCWV. I used The Coral Couture Stack to make my card. I just love the colors in it. It is one of my favorite stacks from them. I save every little scrap of it. And, a good thing too -- look at these tiny little flags. Scraps worked perfectly for this card.
I created the flower-embellishment by fussy-cutting three of them from one of the pages in the stack. I layered them using foam tape to give the flower dimension and colored the center with a yellow marker.
I love the sentiment too! I recently won a stamp collection (I Blank You A1S208) from Paper Smooches, and it has quickly become one of my favs.
There is still plenty of time to get your own card in if you want to join in the fun. Here is the sketch and address where you can get all the rules and other details: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/04/aprils-stackaholic-challenge.html

DCWV April Stack-a-holic Scrapbook Challenge

So nice of you to stop in. Today, I have a scrapbook layout for you - for Glenda. Glenda, one of my most precious friends, recently broke free of her earthly body. It was such a peaceful passing, and she was looking forward to the next part of 'living'.
I know the text box is hard to read in this picture. Here is what it says:

Chicamiga, you go ahead of me now to the next part of living. May you rest there in peace -- well, maybe you won't rest. I can see you exploring and adventuring. My precious friend, your journey has just begun.

Chicamiga is a word we made up by combining chica and amiga and always called each other by that. I really miss her.
I'm sending this layout over to DCWV's April Stack-a-holic challenge. I used The Handy-Dandy Stack to create my page. I printed all the text on white cardstock using my computer. I almost always use stamps for sentiments/text, but in this case I wanted a certain look that fit with Glenda's personality.
There is still time if you want to submit a layout of your own. Here is the sketch we had to use and the address where you can get all the details.  http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/04/aprils-stackaholic-challenge.html

DCWV March Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

UPDATE:  So excited to  find out that my card made the TOP-10 in DCWV's March challenge. This was such a fun card to create. You can see the others in the TOP-10 here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/03/marchs-top-10-stackaholic-challenge.html
Hard to believe it is the middle of March already! I love the warmer temps and the longer days. I know some of you are still buried in snow. I hope you thaw out soon.
I used DCWV's Tres Chic Cardstock Stack to make my card for March's Stack-a-holic Challenge. I pulled several coordinating sheets including a glittery one and dry embossed them with a variety of embossing folders. I cut strips and adhered them in a random order that I worked a long time planning. LOL~ The perfectionist side of me drives me crazy sometimes.
The vine die-cut is one of Our Daily Bread Designs that I love! I use it a lot. The butterflies are Recollections and the sentiment is a vellum quote from Colorbok. I ran the vellum quote through my Xyron and adhered it to a strip of cardstock. I hid the edges of the vellum under the butterfly wings.
There is still lots of time to play along with us. Here's the sketch we have to work with this time and the address to get all the details. http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/03/march-stackaholic-challenge.html

DCWV February Stack-a-holic Card Challenge - Updated

UPDATE: Just found out I mad the TOP-10! So excited to see my card among the other beautiful cards. You can see the other Top-10 here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/02/february-stackaholic-challenge-top-10.html

Thanks so much for popping in today. Hope you are having a great day.
     Today, I have a card for DCWV's Stack-a-holic Challenge.
I used DCWV's The Home Spun Cardstock Stack to create my card this month. This cardstock comes textured like you see on the sentiment tag above. I created the two other textures-on-textures using Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder EL-002. I love that these folders have two different coordinating designs. The sentiment stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs (Friendship #B52). I've recently come across this company and their blog, and I'm loving their stamps. You should check them out.
There is still a little bit of time if you want to play along with us. Here's the sketch we had to work with and a link to get all the details.

DCWV January Stack-a-holic Card Challenge

Thanks so much for stopping in! Today I have a card for DCWV's January Stack-a-holic Challenge.

I used DCWV's Floral Foliage Stack for my card this month. I just love the deep purples and blues in the stack. I made the layered flowers with one of Spellbinders' cut-fold-tuck die sets, and the vine which is my newest and now favorite die comes from Our Daily Bread.
There is still some time left if you want to create with us. But, don't wait too long. I did not see a deadline for entry, but it will be soon. Check out the challenge here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/01/january-stack-holic-challenge.html

DCWV November Stack-a-holic Challenge

UPDATE: I'm so excited to learn my gift tag made the TOP-10 winners list at DCWV! You can check out the other winners here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/12/november-stack-holic-challenge-top-10s.html

Thanks for popping in today. Hope you are enjoying your winter. Mine has been really busy, but not too busy for another Stack-a-holic challenge from DCWV. Instead of a card challenge this month, we have an ornament challenge, or a gift-tag if we prefer.

This is my year for gift-tags, I guess. I've had several challenges asking for gift-tags recently. I made this tag as a Christmas tag, but I could easily use it for a number of occasions.
Here's how I made this one. I cut a light minty-green tag shape (2.5" x 7") from DCWV's Homespun Cardstock Stack - my absolute favorite stack of all time. All other paper for this tag comes from DCWV's Handy-Dandy Stack. I punched a double-loop edge (Martha Stewart) on the bottom end of the tag. I cut a smaller panel from a coordinating patterned paper and adhered it along the side. I ran a small strip of light red/dark rosy patterned paper through my crimper (Fiskars) and matted it with a white panel that was also trimmed with the double loops.
To make my medallion, I punched a 12" length of a lattice chain edge (EK Success) from the same paper as the side panel. I scored it every 1/2" and fan-folded it into a medallion. It is so pretty and lacey in person. I adhered the snowflake brad (the Paper Studio) with hot-glue in the center.
I heat-embossed the to-from tag (Fiskars)  in white ink and white embossing powder on the back of a scrap left over from the minty green tag. Then, I punched two holes and laced a length of white, satin ribbon between them. I also added a ribbon to the back so I can tie the tag to a present.
There is still plenty of time to play along with us. Here's a copy of the sketch we had to work with and a link to all the rules. http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/11/november-stack-holic-challenge.html

DCWV October Stack-a-holic Card Color Challenge

Update: So excited! Just found out this card made it into the Top-10 at DCWV! Check out the other winners here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/10/top-10-october-stack-holic-challenge.html

Thanks for popping in! I always love your visits. Today, I have a card for DCWV's Card Color Challenge for October.

Green, purple, orange, and brown are the colors-of-the-month. I used DCWV's The Home Spun Stack, one of my favs, to create my card. I love this stack for the ridged texture it brings. The small glittery orange strip of cardstock under the purple is from DCWV's The Halloween Stack. One piece of advice I might offer is if you are using a trimmer to cut the glitter papers, put your paper into the trimmer upside down. It will help keep your blade from getting dull so quickly.
To make the textured wreath, I used Sizzix's Wreath folder. Then, ran my boysenberry pigment pad from ColorBox over the top to make the wreath stand out more. I added a few leaves, buttons, feathers, gems and autumn leaves. I got the leaves from a sprig of flowers in the floral dept. They peel off nicely and will stick well with glue dots.
There's still plenty of time to enter your own card. Check out the details here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/10/october-stack-holic-challenge.html
